What shoes should I wear for the 'smart casual' dress code? I only hv sneakers&oversized high heels&flat pumps

I am a freshman at university and am invited to a dinner with some professors and local students [I am from overseas]. It is happening tonight. I plan to wear a turtle neck with a casual jacket and trousers. However, I only have sneakers, an oversized pair of high heels [which i'm not comfortable wearing] and fancy flat pumps. Sandals are not allowed. Please advise.

flat pumps would be your best choice.

sneakers are definitely a big nono!
Reply:From what you are describing you need to look nice but not over the top. I myself would and get a basic black dress shoe with a mid hight heel. Much more comfy than a higher heel but more stylish than a flat. With dressier pair of pant's wear a nylon. These need not be expensive, lots of stores have basic shoes like this and you'll have something for all sorts of situations

Reply:I'm not sure what you mean by fancy flat pumps. Are they flats or pumps (which are strapless but almost always mid height high heels)? Either way, of what you mentioned, a flat or pump would be best.

If I was going out to buy a shoe for the event, I'd buy a ballet flat or ankle boot with a tiny wedge heel. Something comfortable, understated, but that looks nice.
Reply:Flats are not smart casual, go for anything with a heel.
Reply:Well the best option would be brown or black loafers or flats. But if it has to be one of the 3 I guess the flats
