Why do women love shoes so much?

Don't get me wrong I think high heels look very sexy on a woman(and no, I haven't got a fetish !) but I wouldn't buy 6 pairs of trainers.6 pairs of casual shoes and 6 pairs of "going out" shoes in a couple of years


Some girls I work with claim to have dozens of pairs of shoes they've never even worn

Why do women love shoes so much?
I think when it comes to footwear, women confuse the word "want" with the word "need".





The other night my wife asked me to fetch her slippers from one of her wardrobes. They were some pink fluffy things that looked like they had been culled from a gay Yeti.





However, I noticed how many shoes she had and asked her why she had so many. She replied that she "needed" them. I've never seen her wear most of them, so "need" was obviously the wrong word and "want" was far more accurate.





I told her this and she replied "Cobblers!", which concluded the conversation.
Reply:i guess its just the idea that a woman could use an extra pair in an emergency, ive always pondered the same question, theres loads of theories though...and even women themselves dont know i reckon





maybe its just Fashionable to collect shoes these days, like some kind of weird private status thing....

im a no shoe kinda gal. i only have 4 pairs of shoes - clogs (which by the way are looking pretty gross and have a hole in the bottom.), gym shoes, flip flops and my icky shoes for doing river stuff.





i think some girls just want their whole outfit to match.

Reply:umm.. i hate shoe shopping lol.. i have like two pairs of sneakers, two pairs of boots, a couple flats and a pair or two of dress shoes.. i don't own shoes that i don't wear because it's a waste of my money and closet space.. i do however have an ungodly amount of belts and bandanas.. so i guess i'm guilty on that level.. but i guess the whole shoe thing is like some odd therapy or fashion obsession.. not really sure..

as has been pointed out, a great pair of heels can completely change an outfit...





you can put on a tee and jeans, add a pair of hot heels and hit the town without a second thought!
Reply:Okay, shoes that they've never worn? That's just stupid. Usually when I buy a new pair of shoes, I can't wait to wear them..





But one reason that so many women have multiple pairs of shoes would be that even if your a plus size woman, you can still buy sexy shoes. You can never have too much of a good thing right??





Other than clothing accessories, (bags/purses/jewellery etc.) what other article of clothing can you say that about?

Reply:We love shoes because not only are they cute, they can really add to an outfit. Like even if something matches color wise, style can give a lot and make the differnece between a so-so outfit amd a cute outfit. Like wearing a pair of flats with a dress or wearing a pair of heels. They would just look so much better.
Reply:because they are comfy, reliable and don't expect a cuppa every hour on the hour!


Best of all they last for longer than 3 minutes!

Reply:I think it is becauses they are easy to shop for you don't get depressed if they don't fit and they will probably always fit so you don't ever lose out. Unlike buying clothes not a whole lot of energy goes into buying shoes.

i have about 10 pairs of converse (some low some high)


i play mix and match with them, one day a left foot green and a right foot black, another day a grey one foot and a red other one


and then a couple pairs of retro tennis shoes (cant mix sadly)


and then about 10 different pairs of flipflops


a few pairs of skate shoes


a couple pairs of actaul runners for gym


a pair of hikers for mountain biking
