Hip and comfortable shoes that make me look taller?

I am looking for a pair of casual shoes that meet the following criteria:

1. they must be comfortable

2. they must give me at least a couple inches of height

3. they must look cool and preferably somewhat unique

4. no boots - it's too hot down here

I am probably what most people would call a "hipster" so I'm not looking for some grandma shoes. I typically wear vintage sneakers or black boots, but I'm wanting something different. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know some of you shoe obsessives out there can help me. Thanks!

Good luck finding "taller" shoes that are comfortable, that will be very hard to find.
Reply:I saw that Oprah's February magazine has an article about this exactly. I haven't read it yet though, so I can't tell you how good it is. Report It

Reply:One answer for the comfortable shoes is: a wedge shoe. My foot doctor recommended it. It gives you height, is comfortable, and they hardly ever are out of fashion. They come in an assortment of colors and styles. Do limit the height to 1" or 1 1/2" inch. Take care of the ankles. Report It

Reply:Some suggestions are Cole Hahn and Taryn Rose. Taryn Rose was an orthopedic Surgeon who saw a void in the market for stylish comfortable shoes. Cole Hahn is owned by Nike and uses the Nike air Technology even in their pumps. Report It

Reply:Cole Haan - Dress Air and Casual Air. Gordon Thompson spent a decade at NIKE before going over to Cole Haan. He used the "air" technology from NIKE and help create this line of shoes for Cole Haan. Report It

Reply:Anything with a wedge heel would be a good start. They are comfortable and "tall". Dansko's are nice too and really comfy.

Must be nice to live someplace warm. It is really cold right now where I live.

Reply:The perfect thing for you would be a pare of wedges. Go to www.chineselaundry.com and www.vintagelaundry.com. A pair of wedges are extremely cute, unique, and will add at least 2 inches to your height! You can wear them with dressy clothes or casual clothes.

Here are a few pair that I like....

Also pumps will help you! They are sexy yet sophisticated, and will not only add height, but add the appearance of length to your legs!

The Vintage Laundry web site goes by Decade categories, such as '70's, '80's, and '90's. Have a great time!

These shoes are also very affordable!!!!!!!!!

Reply:I love Danskos. You can wear them all day, and they come in many different styles. Plus, they will make you a little taller.

Check out www.dansko.com
Reply:I'm a vintage boho shoe addict. If you want comfortable shoes with a heel, your best bet is Seychelles brand footwear. They have various heel hights, so you can try them on and see what feels most comfortable. They are also reasonably priced for their unique style and very comfortable. Like I said, the style is very unique from other shoes, so you won't be seeing another girl with these types of cute shoes. They've also got a variety of different styles. I love them all, but they've got 40's, 50's, 80's styles, you name it! What I love is that you can wear them with pretty much anything too. Good luck!

P.S. another thing, wedge shoes are great and hardly feel like you need to keep your balance. They come in so many different heights, too, so you have plenty of freedom to experiment. If you want to start off with a lower heel, Steve Madden has nice low-wedge peep-toe heels in many colors that might suit your style. I've noticed amazon.com has fairly good prices on those. They are the "bunni" style %26amp; come in leather %26amp; suede, and in about 6 different colors.
