What the in thing now for casual shoes that'll go with almost anything?

I saw a pair by Merrill that are black and are a cross between running shoes and ballerina shoes; they have a thin strap across the top.

Foot Pain!!!! Most comfortable type of shoes for waitress?

If I'm on my feet I get really bad heel pain and after about 4 hours, I usually need pain reliever because my feet hurt so bad, in just normal shoes. I am in my early 20's and not obese, I'm pretty healthy. When I look at my feet, they are not flat, they do have a big arch. Of course, when I wear heels the pain is super bad in the balls of my feet. I hate this because if I'm wearing heels I have to cut my night short!

So when I'm at work-- Having tried many kinds, what is the most comfortable pair of shoes for someone like a server or waitress who is on their feet all day on a hard floor? All the shoe inserts I've tried are total crap, even the arch support ones, they're like no difference. Casual shoes are fine, The shoes must be solid black or tan/brown, and reasonably stylish or contemporary. So whats THE most comfortable shoes for both work and high heels?

Birkenstocks! They are amazing and u can buy ones that are shoes, not just mules! I think ull have to sacifice the high heels for the sake of comfort. Sorry love!
Reply:Know there's gotta be a Walmart near by, try their Earth Shoes. I have a bad ankle and have to stand for long periods of time and they help me and don't cost a fortune. They are cushiony and comfortable. Also Dr. Scholl's Memory Foam Inserts are real comfortable, too.

Reply:Naturalizer, Easy Spirit, Nine West (sister store of easy spirit but more stylish), Enzo, Sketchers (also check out their dress shoes, feels almost like their casual shoes), Ecco, Keds (they have cute and comfy skimmers this year), . I use to be on my feet for 12-14 hour a day and these brands always work. Heels didn't work unless they were no more than 2 inches otherwise the balls of my feet felt like they were on fire, lol. Gel inserts work for a while but not the whole day. The first 4 I recommend for dressier type shoes. But all for casual types shoes. Zappos.com is great. They pay for shipping back and forth or I always buy them at nordstroms or some place where returns are flexible if they don't work. Good luck!

I have big feet too! I totally hate ppl making fun of me. I mean they are just STUPID! I like payless! I usually get their converse shoes (they arent actually converses). They make my feet look a lot smaller.

Size 11 womens dress shoes?

I wear 11's and I can almost never find dress shoes that fit - when I do it's a very very limited selection and they are usually ugly or painful. I have no problem finding casual shoes in 11's (particularly tennis shoes), but I struggle so much with dress shoes. Does anybody have advice on stores which carry AFFORDABLE shoes in larger sizes? (I live in a big city so name anything and hopefully we'll have it!)

I've been out of management in the shoe business for many years, but they used to specialize in shoe sizes above 9 as they do in plus size clothing.

Unfortunately, the US has turned over most or all of our shoe manufacturing to China. Also, most stores have refined their merchandising practices to eliminate "fringe" inventories.

China does not manufacture the broad range of sizes which the US had done in past years. Here we used to stock a basic 108 shoe sizes, plus a few others in wider widths and above size 11. Too bad.

I hope Lane Bryant can be of help for you. They will be expensive, I'm sure, and have always generated higher markup. However, with style changes so often and quickly, markdowns are considerably higher on "fringe" sizes.

You should look for their sales and try to buy basic styles, looking ahead to the next season, such as present summer shoes for next year. Fall styles are arriving now and by October, they will be placed on sale, as new Spring merchandise will be arriving in late Oct.-early Nov. When you find your size on these sales, look ahead to next year.

In a year you will have the seasonal shoes when needed.

As a guide:

SPRING shoes begin arriving in Nov.-Dec. Sales begin May.

Summer shoes begin arriving in March-April. Sales begin

Late June-July.

Fall shoes begin arriving in July-August. Sales begin Oct.-Nov.

You can see the pattern that is used to bring in new seasonal styles early and the planned clearance in order to make stock space for the new season.

It's a good idea to make contact with a sales person and always buy from that person. Leave your name and contact info. You will find that one will be interested in keeping you as a customer and will be willing to contact you when new merchandise arrives in your size, AND will contact you when they are placed on sale.

Reply:The Avenue. It's a plus size clothes shop, but also sells shoes that are in style...and many of them are in larger sizes.

Also know what a Black friend once told me....she also wore a size eleven. She shopped at a certain Mall because more ladies of her race shopped there...so they stocked the larger sizes and she could always find her size. Since that seems to be the case, find the Malls where those with larger feet shop, and they will stock your size. This lady told me that many of her race wore a larger size.

But I have shopped in The Avenue...and know they have them. It is also true that larger size ladies, often have larger feet...so check other plus size stores as well.

What is better: buying shoes slightly too small or slightly too big?

I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT ever find shoes that fit me, either too small or too big, just wondering what is better, I had so many knee problems, back problems, and overall bad posture from bad fitting shoes and I'm only 25 (and just recently sprained my right ankle playing basketball) My doctor noticed uneven wear on the back heal of my casual shoes offset to the outer corner, and another doctor said I stood flat footed, so I tried orthotics, but they didn't seem to work out so good. Today I found basketball shoes where the left one is slightly too small and the baby toe gets rubbed quite a bit, but the right seems to fit the way it should. (They say the foot on the side of the heart is usually a bit bigger) Should I try and see if the shoes will work in, or return the shoes for size 12's that are slightly too big for me?

Reply:take the hand that you write with, use your thumb to measure the length from your big toe to the end of the shoe. you should have a half of an inch to an inch of space between your toes and the end of the shoe. as far as width goes, your shoe should be snug not tight. try to find one that will give you ankle support so you will not roll your ankle while it's hurt. as far as the rubbing on your toe. if it rubs than it's either too tight or not long enough. I know from experience that most shoes do not come in an 11and a half so you may have to go to the 12's. just be careful that they're not too big or that could cause problems on your heels.

Reply:Get them bigger if you can't find the correct size/fit.

If you get them smaller your feet will hurt all day long. If you get them bigger you'll have room to wiggle and perhaps wear thicker socks.

Also, you should do your shoe shopping and trying on at the end of the day because your feet swell a bit over the course of the day.

Can I use shoe stretchers on shoes with rubber soles?

I know shoe stretchers are effective when used with leather soled shoes and boots, but I have a pair of casual shoes that I would like to lengthen a bit. If I used a shoe stretcher, would it leave the rubber soles at the same length and only stretch out the leather upper, leaving me with a pair of deformed and ruined shoes, or would I get the desired effect in both rubber and leather?

Can I use shoe stretchers on shoes with rubber soles?
Once molten rubber is poured into the molds, there's no way you can stretch it without ruining it. However, some rubber in shoe soles is very elastic-y so on a rare occasion, you won't ruin your shoe. If you want to take the chance of ruining your shoes or not, I say go ahead, but its a risk....

I need some shoes to give me some arch support. I have very flat feet but I have always worn normal shoes. Now that I am working out on a regular basis my feet hurt like hell. People keep telling me it cause of my flat feet. I need some training shoes that will give me some good arch support but are not anymore then around 80 bucks. I also want to get casual shoes with good arch support.

Everyone's feet is unique to themselves. To get a general shoe with an general arch would not necessarily give you the support that you need and could and would cause more pain than support. The best thing to do is visit your doctor, get a script for custom made orthotics. Take the script to your foot doctor and they will custom make an in-sole/orthotic for you to insert into your running shoes.

I recently bought a pair of navy blue pinstripe pants, they're not really suit pants but more of a dressier pair of slacks. My problem is that I want to find a pair of shoes that are going to still be casual for jeans but not out of place with these new pants. Wearing basketball shoes at a bigger size?

My foot is about 11 inches, but I wear a size 12 shoe normally (casual shoe). I have always worn size 12 basketball shoes, but today I bought a size 13. I did this because my toes used to bleed all the time from hitting up against the shoe, and I also wear 4-5 pairs of socks when I play, so it makes my foot bigger. There is about an inch between the end of my toes and the end of the shoe, but the shoe fits perfectly and doesn't slip or slide. I was just wondering if anyone else does this, or if perhaps it could cause injury? Thanks,

If it feels good to you then my guess is that its okay. I dont do that but if you dont slide in them and they feel comfy when you play then its prolly cool.

Reply:As long as your feet aren't slipping out and they are tied snugly around your ankles you'll be fine. I can't say I blame you for buying the larger size, having been a toe dancer for 13+ years, I can totally relate to ripping up your toes.
Reply:I've layered 2 pairs of socks before at max but I noticed a slight redness after games where we were pulling more fast breaks/ running more than usual. After that I did research and it seems that the addition of more socks suffocates your feet, giving it lack of air. Its possible it may cause athletes foot as well, especially if you play a lot. I recommend just downsizing back to your regular size and finding shoes better suited to your feet. After about 3 pairs, I got a set of answer 3s and they worked wonders. So my assumption is that its about picking the right shoe. If you play for a team and they require a shoe dress code, just ask the coach and tell him about your condition. Good luck.

I am planning to buy completely black casual shoes. What trousers (I mean what color of trousers) would look good with them? I recently bought very dark blue jeans trousers. Will they look good with my new shoes? What abut a light blue jeans? In general: Are black shoes compatible with every other color (I've heard that black and white go well with everything)?

What is the best amount of time to keep tennis shoes? I have had mine two years. I normally wear them to work out (about 2 to 3 times per week) and sometimes on the weekends if I go to an amusement park or places where I have to walk a lot.

I also have loafers (dress shoes) that I have had for 1 1/2 yrs. I wear them on casual Fridays and on weekends. They are made by Natural Soul and are good leather shoes.

I don't know lately my calves have been hurting after wearing both pairs of shoes.

Maybe I should throw both pairs away and wear my new tennis shoes and buy some new loafers. I saw some cute but expensive ones at JC Penney.

I'm not so sure about wearing them as an everyday pair of shoes..mainly because the colors in the shoes, they wont match with everything. And you'd want to switch up your style from day to day.

I would like to wear it with blue jeans and brown shoes to look casual. However, when i check out shoes, i see so many different types of shoes. I definitely am getting brown shoes. However, i see shoes listed as Dress, Loafer, casual and boot etc. I want this to be a casual look.

I would go for a dark brown colored (like the ones pictured). The blazer is a bit casual so I would not go for formal shoes, black colored shoes or even boots.

or you could go with a simple skirt. one of the "day to evening" dresses is appropriate also. (and they are only like 20$!!) just consider the weather- it might get too chill at night for a skirt.

For example if your hitting the club go with open toe high heels, for a fun day at the beach try flip flops, or if you'll be doing a bit of walking (like the mall) why not tennis shoes. A hollister and jeans can be appropriate anywhere but your shoes will definitely make or brake the outfit.

I am fairly tall, so heels are kind of not what I am thinking as far as the casual side is concerned. I wear ballet flats a lot, but what are some of the kinds you wear that are different than the typical ballet flat? That can be used for nicer occasions as well as the everyday situation.
